DO LAB DIAMONDS TEST AS REAL DIAMONDS?

Certainly, lab-created diamonds will register a positive result when tested with a diamond tester. Despite being cultivated in a laboratory setting by scientists rather than formed in the Earth's crust, lab diamonds are unequivocally genuine diamonds. They possess identical chemical and optical characteristics as natural diamonds.

Even seasoned gemologists cannot discern any distinction between the two variants through visual inspection alone. The differentiation between a lab-created diamond and a mined diamond necessitates the utilization of specialized equipment capable of detecting subtle variations in trace elements and crystal growth.

DOES PURE DIAMOND WORK WITH EARTH-MADE OR NATURAL DIAMONDS?

Earth-created diamonds can be special ordered by contacting the customer care team. Please note we need exact specifications for what you might be after including certification and 4Cs preference. Alternatively Earth created diamonds can be found on the website section labeled "Mined Diamond." Please note that all mined diamonds are part of a specific order process and necessitate importation into Canada. To facilitate the importation of a mined diamond for our valued customers, it is required that either the purchase be completed online or a deposit be provided.

The cut of the diamond is paramount because it delivers light, scintillation, and brilliance. We focus on identifying the diamonds that have the best cut, crafted by only the best artists. We exclusively work with expert diamond cutters that cut for beauty, not just value and profit.

WHAT IS THE CLARITY OF A DIAMOND?

Clarity refers to the number of inclusions that were sealed into a diamond at the time of its formation. In our diamond feed we exclusively offer GIA and IGI graded diamonds with VS+ clarity.

WHAT DOES CARAT WEIGHT OF A DIAMOND REPRESENT?

Carat weight measures how much a diamond weighs. It’s important to remember that a diamond’s value is determined using all of the 4Cs. An engagement ring with a large diamond that’s big on carat weight, but has a poor cut, can very well be less striking than a diamond with smaller carat weight that was masterfully cut.

DO LAB GROWN DIAMONDS LOOK DIFFERENT FROM NATURAL DIAMONDS?

Lab diamonds are chemically and optically the same as natural diamonds. The primary difference between a lab grown diamond and an earth-mined diamond is its growth origin. Even an expert gemologist cannot recognize the difference between the two with the naked eye, and lab diamonds test positive on a diamond tester.

ARE LAB GROWN DIAMONDS THE SAME AS MOISSANITE?

Moissanite stands as a distinct mineral and gemstone, bearing a markedly different appearance and hardness rating when compared to lab-created diamonds.

It's important to note that we do not incorporate moissanite into any of our jewelry or engagement ring creations.

HOW ARE LAB DIAMONDS GROWN IN THE LAB? WHAT ARE THE CVD VS. HPHT GROW METHODS?

There are two commonly employed methods for the creation and cultivation of lab-grown diamonds: High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD). Of these, CVD represents a more contemporary technology and is the preferred approach for generating high-quality, authentic diamonds. We exclusively employ lab diamonds cultivated through the CVD process.

Typically, the growth period for a 1-carat CVD diamond is estimated to be around a month, although individual growth timelines may vary.

The production of these diamonds involves an innovative and distinct process. It commences with the placement of a slender 'seed' diamond within a specialized chamber, subjecting it to elevated temperatures. Subsequently, a carbon-rich gas mixture is introduced into the chamber. Through ionization, the gases' molecular bonds are disassembled, allowing pure carbon to adhere to the diamond seed. As carbon accumulates, it forms atomic bonds with the seed diamond, culminating in the expansion of a fresh, larger diamond—indistinguishable from naturally occurring diamonds.

This precise method is employed exclusively for the cultivation of all our lab diamond center stones, which are reserved solely for our engagement rings.

DO LAB GROWN DIAMONDS HAVE VALUE?

Similar to their earth-mined counterparts, the market value of lab-grown diamonds is subject to fluctuations over time. Given that lab diamonds represent a relatively recent addition to the market, there exists a degree of uncertainty regarding their future pricing compared to natural diamonds.

CAN YOU INSURE LAB DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RINGS?

Yes, just like a mined diamond, lab diamond rings can be insured. We recommend BriteCo for jewellery and engagement rings.

WHAT IS A TYPE IIA DIAMOND?

All of our lab grown diamonds are Type IIa, offered in D-H color grading.

A Type IIa diamond is considered to be the most chemically pure type of diamond, with exceptional optical transparency and making up less than 2% of naturally occurring diamonds.

IS ALL JEWELLERY MADE WITH LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS?

In our unwavering dedication to exceptional quality and radiance, we incorporate lab-grown accent diamonds and pavé (as applicable), characterized by their colorlessness and clarity rating of VS or higher. It is important to mention that the sole exception to this standard is our Inner Gem, which could potentially be a natural gemstone, in cases where you opt for a gem other than a lab-grown diamond.

Should you desire a mined diamond for the centerpiece of your ring, it constitutes a special order. This can be facilitated either through an online digital feed order or by providing the specific specifications of your desired diamond.

HOW QUICKLY WILL I RECEIVE IN-STOCK JEWELLERY?

We ship any ready-to-ship jewellery either same day or next business day for 2-day delivery.

Pure Diamond exclusively uses colorless, VS+ clarity lab-grown accent diamonds and pavé (depending on style) to ensure the best quality and sparkle.

HOW DO I RESIZE MY RING?

We offer one complimentary resizing for engagement rings and non-eternity bands only. This service is available within the first six (6) months of delivery and within ¾ up or down from the original size to maintain the integrity of the ring. Any additional resizing will be subject to a charge. 

For purchases and deliveries within the Canada and US, we offer complimentary (insured and secure) return shipping both ways along with the professional cleaning and inspection of your ring. Please Contact Us for assistance with resizing.

Please save your original packaging and send it back to us in its original, secure packaging to ensure no damage is done during transit. We are not responsible for damage done during transit back to us, and so, it is very important to properly package the ring.

You may order an at-home ring sizer to assist you with finding your perfect fit.

Please note we cannot resize eternity-set bands (meaning rings that have diamonds set all the way around the band) in order to maintain the integrity of the ring.

Laser engraving is offered complimentary for our wedding band designs at the time of purchase. 20 characters or less is preferred for laser engraving. Custom engraving is also available for an additional fee. Please contact our Client Care team to assist with custom engraving requests.

WHAT IS THE WARRANTY POLICY ON MY JEWELLERY?

We stand by the quality and craftsmanship of our jewelry. Pure Diamond offers a complimentary lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects on all engagement rings and jewelry pieces. This warranty includes any quality issues that arise only from a manufacturing defect. 

This warranty does not cover issues that arise from general wear and tear, misuse, and negligence, including but not limited to: scratches, discoloration due to any chemical contact, warped metal, dents, misshapen bands, lost stones, or cracked stones. Lost or stolen pieces are also not covered by this warranty. Repair or service performed by a jeweler other than Jean Dousset will void the warranty.

If you believe your jewelry has a defect, please Contact Us so that you may send it back to us for inspection where we may repair or replace your jewelry, as deemed appropriate and in alignment with this policy. If you require repair services, please review our Care & Repair section.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CARE FOR MY RING?

Using our Perfecting Foam cleaner on a daily basis is highly recommended. We also recommend using a small in-home ultrasonic cleaner.

WHAT ARE THE 4CS?

Cut grade, Carat weight, Color grade and Clarity grade. Today, the 4Cs of diamond quality are the universal method for assessing the quality of any diamond. The creation of the Diamond 4Cs mean two very important things: diamond quality can be communicated in a universal language, and diamond customers know exactly the quality of the diamond they are purchasing.

ARE YOUR DIAMONDS CERTIFIED?

All of our lab diamond center stones 0.50 carats and above are GIA IGI and GCAL certified. The GIA certificate comes with the purchase of your engagement ring or jewelry.

Example if you choose the center diamond as E colour VS clarity the side diamonds must be the same colour and clarity.

The colour stones gemstones are perfect and we are happy to customize your ring to feature one, however due to the nature and the vast variety of gems and its look in the ring we need an exact image of the ring you would like from multiple angles as well as the preference for the carat weight as well as budget preference.

- The returned item must be postmarked within 30 days from the date you received your order.

- They should be in their original packaging, unused, unworn, and free from any damage.
- Ensure that the original packaging, gift box, diamond certificate (if applicable), and any other items received with your original package are included in the return shipment.
- Jewellery and engagement rings must be returned in impeccable condition, mirroring their pristine state upon delivery. Please note that diamonds cannot be separated from their setting in engagement rings or jewelry.
- We cannot accept returns for creations that exhibit signs of wear, have been used, or have undergone alterations from their original condition.

To safeguard your return during transit, we recommend either reusing the provided cardboard shipping box or using an appropriate shipping carton to prevent any potential damage. Please refrain from using the Pure Diamond jewellery box as a shipping container.

Additionally, it is advisable to retain a record of your tracking number to monitor the progress of your return shipment. Please be aware that we cannot assume responsibility for any damages that may occur during transit. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure proper packaging to safeguard your item and ensure a successful return process.

In the unfortunate event of loss or theft, you would then file an insurance claim with your provider to purchase a replacement.
